What to see

The Cleveland Museum of Art is known for a Picasso from the end of his Blue Period, a cast of Rodin’s Thinker that still carries the damage from a 1970 bombing, and the prizefight George Bellows painted in 1909. Start with these.

The collections

Cleveland organises its holdings across sixteen curatorial departments, unusually deep in Asian and medieval art for an American museum. The 2013 rebuilding by Rafael Viñoly wrapped them all around a glass-roofed atrium, so the galleries read as one continuous walk.
