Galeazzo Mondella, known as Moderno (Verona, 1467, Verona, 1528), was an Italian goldsmith and medallist who became one of the most important designers of bronze plaquettes during the Italian Renaissance. Mondella began his career as a medallist at the court of Mantua, where in 1487 he adopted the professional name "Moderno" (meaning "the Modern"). This name was chosen in contrast to his contemporary, the Mantuan bronzist Pier Jacopo Alari Bonacolsi, who was in the same year called "Antico" ("the Ancient") for the first time.

Enrique Carbajal González (born November 16, 1947), known professionally as Sebastián, is a Mexican sculptor best known for his monumental works of steel and/or concrete in both Mexico and abroad. These include a number of "gate" sculptures such as the Gran Puerta a México in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, but his most famous sculpture is El Caballito located in downtown Mexico City. His works are found in various countries outside Mexico, such as Japan where two are now used as city symbols.

The church of Santa Maria ad Nives of Palazzolo (also called of Palazzola) is a Catholic place of worship located in the municipality of Rocca di Papa, in the province of Rome, in the suburbicarian diocese of Frascati. Next to the church stands the former convent of the Friars Minor Observant. The convent, which already existed in the 11th century, stands in a picturesque place overlooking Lake Albano: amidst alternate events it reached its period of maximum splendor around the middle of the 18th century, with the architectural interventions promoted by Bishop José Maria Ribeiro da Fonseca de Évora.

A plaquette is a small low relief sculpture in bronze or other materials. These were popular in Italian Renaissance sculpture and later. They may be commemorative, but especially in the Renaissance and Mannerist periods were often made for purely decorative purposes, with often crowded scenes from religious, historical or mythological sources.
