Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe, originally titled Le Bain (The Bath), is a large oil on canvas painting by Édouard Manet created in 1862 and 1863. It depicts a nude woman and a scantily dressed bathing woman on a picnic with two fully dressed men in a rural setting. Rejected by the Salon jury of 1863, Manet seized the opportunity to exhibit this and two other paintings in the 1863 Salon des Refusés, where the painting sparked public notoriety and controversy.

The Balcony is an 1868–1869 oil painting by the French painter Édouard Manet. It depicts four figures on a balcony, one of whom is sitting: the painter Berthe Morisot, who married Manet's brother Eugène in 1874. In the centre is the painter Jean Baptiste Antoine Guillemet.

Portrait of Émile Zola is a painting of Émile Zola by Édouard Manet. Manet submitted the portrait to the Salon of 1868 in Pairs. At this time Zola was known for his art criticism, and perhaps particularly as the writer of the novel Thérèse Raquin.

A Sprig of Asparagus (L'Asperge) is an 1880 oil on canvas painting by Édouard Manet, signed at the top right. It is now in the Musée d'Orsay. In 1880, Charles Ephrussi, an art collector and patron of the arts, commissioned Manet to paint A Bundle of Asparagus for 800 francs.

Madame Manet at the Piano is a portrait by Édouard Manet of his wife Suzanne (née Leenhoff), painted in 1867, 68 and now in the Musée d'Orsay, in Paris. It highlights her talent on the piano; she had played Wagner to Baudelaire during his last days. In 1849 Manet's father appointed Suzanne Leenhoff as piano teacher for his sons.

Olympia is an 1863 oil painting by Édouard Manet, depicting a nude white woman ("Olympia") lying on a bed being attended to by a black maid. The French government acquired the painting in 1890 after a public subscription organized by Claude Monet. The painting is now in the Musée d'Orsay, Paris.

The Reading is an oil painting by French painter Édouard Manet depicting his wife Suzanne Leenhoff and son Léon, created c. The painting was first exhibited in 1880 in one of the regular solo exhibitions mounted by Manet in his workshop. The picture was also part of the great posthumous exhibition of Manet's work in 1884, a year after his death.
